Framingham Cosmetic Dentistry - Composite Fillings / Restorations

Composites, also known as colored fillings, are designed to match the natural appearance of your teeth.
They are used to restore a decayed tooth instead of mercury silver fillings that tend to darken the tooth and leak over time.
For example, once the decayed portion of the tooth is removed, we will place several layers of the tooth-colored composite onto this tooth to return it to a natural, beautiful shape.
Composites / Tooth Colored Fillings
Composite fillings, like the fillings you are used to, are prepared and placed in just one visit. We recommend using them and consider them the standard of care today; much like mercury silver fillings were used in the past.

If you have strong, healthy teeth, but are unhappy with their appearance, consider bonding. During this quick process (usually less than one hour), a mild composite resin is applied to the tooth to be treated, then left to harden. It is then sculpted to match surrounding teeth, resulting in a beautiful, uniform smile.
The Single Appointment Restorative Solution
Over the last 25 years, adhesive dentistry has developed to the point that today it's considered minimally invasive dentistry. Your dentist uses these adhesive bonding techniques on a daily basis and they normally require a minimal amount of tooth preparation. The composite materials that are bonded to your teeth not only look natural, they wear like natural teeth. In most instances, tooth bonding with modern composites is accomplished in a single appointment with your dentist.
Tooth bonding really does it all, from new fillings to amalgam replacements. From repairing and reshaping chipped teeth to sealing and protecting your children's teeth from cavities. If there are any little imperfections in your smile that are bothering you, see if your dentist thinks tooth bonding could be a solution for this.
Composite tooth bonding is a cosmetic dentistry technique that can work wonders for your smile. Using materials that match the shade, translucency and texture of your teeth, gaps between the teeth can be closed, spots, chips, and discolorations can be eliminated, and your self-confidence can be enhanced through the improved appearance of your smile.
